I See the Christ

If I could hope one thing of God,
As Spirit-born and Spirit-priced,
I’d hope that He Who gathers prayers
Would say of me, “I hear the Christ.”
Oh God, my Author, let me be
An open book, with sin excised,
Then Thou could glad examine me
And say with pride, “I read of Christ.”
Oh God, I beg, lay hold of me
And make me of Thy Will enticed
That Thou would recognize to be
Thy child within the Holy Christ.
My God, if I could have one dream
Birthed from joyous Paradise,
I’d have Thy Will alive in me
That Thee could say, “I see the Christ!”
