Let Us Draw Near
Heb. 10
Let us draw near in heartfelt assurance –
Sprinkled by blood and washed pure like snow!
Evil denied, and Faith with endurance –
Let us draw near, our God better to know.
Let us hold fast in faith never waning –
Fully redeemed, and our sin swept away!
Faithfulness lifts us, forever sustaining.
Let us hold fast to His promise today.
Let us consider each other, now loving –
Purified, cleansed, and made righteous in deed –
Sacrifice, serve – all like Christ in our living.
Let us consider this love He’s decreed.
Let us draw near, in peace to be waiting;
Let us hold fast – is our hope not the Son?
Let us consider – each temptation berating.
We’re invited. So come, let us dare to go on!
Even the Fringe
Mark 6:56
‘Even the fringe’ of a weather-worn cloak;
Just a small brush of a finger-breadth stroke.
Quick though it be, in a crowd and a mess,
Even His fringe owns the power to bless.
Power and Might – are they held in the seam?
Healing and Peace – are they pleated in dream?
Deep through the weave, although righteous in wroth,
Jesus redeems; compassion woven in cloth.
‘Even the fringe’ – yet to dare its release!
Jesus discerns by His plain garment’s crease
A Faith and a Trust by a heart’s-throbbing bell:
‘Even the fringe – just a touch – and I’m well!’
Just a small brush; just a finger or hand.
Longing it be, in a crowd to The Man!
Willing, the Love that ebbed Head to Feet.
‘Even the fringe’ – Would you dare such a feat?

What Is Man Before the Lord?
Job
Indeed, Lord, who are we?
Who are we to meet with Thee?
Thine the majesty! Thine alone!
Thine the glory of Thy throne!
Who are we? Why is it shared?
Who are we that You have cared!
Lord, Thou asked, and asketh right –
Our worth is only in Thy sight –
Can we still the wind or rain?
Can we part the Sky’s curtain?
Are the waves beneath our hand?
May we bid the trees to stand?
Will pain flee at our request?
Will our words a tempest rest?
Jesus, as Job said to Thee,
I have no sage with destiny.
What is the way? Oh, I am blind!
So blessed am I that Thou Art kind.
Humbly must I watch and wait
Though in ashes I contemplate.
What’s discomfort? It is mine –
Only Grace has made it Thine.
It was our place to honour Thee;
Live as were created to be –
In obedience; in submission –
That was our premier position.
But now tis a greater task!
Tis to wear a fleshly mask
While our spirits match Thine own
Since our hearts are made Thy throne;
Tis to bear the Gospel far;
To proclaim the Morning Star!
Tis to love the world like Thee –
To bring the people nigh to see
It is but by Thy majesty
That we were ever meant to be.
Who are we, Lord? What are we?
Jesus, we are to be like Thee.
My Altar
Ex. 20:22-25
God, cause Your Name to be remembered;
Cause the blessing to take place –
For here before You is my altar
To await the drops of Grace.
I will not put more gods before You;
I will despise the track of Hell.
So, my Sovereign, here’s my altar.
May this be where You may dwell.
I will not forsake Your holy doctrine;
God, please smell the sacrifice,
For here plain-built is my life-altar –
May a sweet aroma rise.
I will not want of gold or silver
Above Your price of Holiness;
For I have heard Your voice from Heaven,
And by it, God, my altar bless.
Claim me, God – each stone engraved –
Etch Your Name! I dare not falter,
For great are You! My God, glance down,
For here I am – laid on my altar.
Visited By God
Luke 7
“God has visited His people.”
What if Jesus came our way?
“God has visited His people.”
Would we welcome Him to stay?
If God fell upon His people
Would we cheer Him as He came?
Would He find us as He wants us;
As a jewel unto His Name?
“God has visited His people.”
What a triumph! He once stood
As an answer to the prayers
Of the prophets, true and good.
“God has visited His people.”
Blessed are those who watch and see
That the King is passing over;
Leading on, eternally.
“God has visited His people.”
O, that He may sure remain!
And know His people eager
That He passeth by again.
“God has visited His people.”
May this be true as whole or part –
May He be fitted in each person
And loved by every human heart,
That the people who receive Him
As He goes their way by choice
Recognize that He has purpose
And desires we rejoice.
“God has visited His people.”
Never grant the chance to miss.
When His presence fades before you,
Also fades the chance of bliss.
“God has visited His people.”
What a truth of joy and fear!
O, the hope that He’s indwelling;
O, the fear that He is here!
“God has visited His people.”
What a hope is blowing near –
That our God is in the distance;
That our God is coming here!
“God has visited His people.”
O, to tremble in that Day!
To know that God is broaching;
Has once passed by this way.
“God has visited His people.”
Repeat, O God, this history.
Come and visit with Your people;
Work again this mystery!
